Brilliant Minds: Discovery 2024

Philip Ross is a speaker at the Brilliant Minds 2024 Festival in Stockholm. He’ll discuss the subject of discovery in conversation with Susanne Gløersen and Renee Davis. They’ll talk about mushrooms in the larger view of their contemporary popularization, and the growing acknowledgement of their utility for wide ranging applications and solutions. In this discussion he’ll  touch on the ambitions that Open Fung is pursuing through genomics and art.

Fungi IssueNational Geographic
March 2024
National Geographic magazine published its first cover story on fungi in the 130+ year history of the magazine. The Fungi edition includes a story on mushroom leather featuring Open Fung founder, Phil Ross. 


Fungi – In Art and Science
Exhibition, Nobel Museum
September 2023 - January 2024

In the exhibition Fungi – In Art and Science at the Nobel Museum in Stockholm, the world of fungi is explored through artworks, design objects, fashion and contemporary scientific research. 

Phil Ross and Vera Meyer’s biogenerator project is included in the exhibition. “Their SciArt contribution tries to appreciate the beauty and diversity of microscopically small fungal cell factories and their infinitely large contribution to our life through bioreactor technology.”
