Network Program

Open Fung’s Network Program brings together a global community of researchers, citizen scientists and creative practitioners working at the intersection of fungi and regenerative materials. The network addresses a key challenge in applied mycology, that knowledge often exists in silos and can be difficult to access, adapt, or reliably reproduce. By fostering shared standards and collaboration across disciplines, we aim to create an accessible platform to share important knowledge, results and data that amplifies collective impact.

Through a digital platform and in-person exchange, Open Fung connects people, methods and data to support relational science and cross-disciplinary experimentation. Working with aligned partners, we test and refine fungal techniques across different contexts while engaging the public through workshops, events, and arts programming. By strengthening connections between science, art, and technology, the Network Program helps practitioners advance their work, form new collaborations, and accelerate fungal futures grounded in openness, rigor, and care.

In forming the Network program, Open Fung has developed partnerships and collaborations with The Bioengineering Department at Stanford University and Drew Endy’s lab, Technical University (TU) Berlin with Vera Meyer’s Lab, ExFAB, BEAM Circular, Autodesk, OXYARTS, the Stanford Sustainability Accelerator and The Rick and Susan Sontag Center for Collaborative Creativity (The Hive) at the Claremont Colleges.
